The final report of the Making Maths Count group was published in September 2016, and focused on three key aims:
- Transforming public attitudes to maths
- Improving confidence and fluency in maths for children, young people, parents and all those who deliver maths education to raise attainment and achievement across learning
- Promoting the value of maths as an essential skill for every career.
This report considers the recommendations made in each of these themes and the progress made in the last year.
One the key successes so far has been the launch of Maths Week Scotland, which took place on 11th to 17th September 2017.
Have a look at the paper to see some of the highlights, which include outdoor events, collaboration with universities, businesses, parents, communities and museums, and creative events and competitions across school settings and digital media.
